DIY Crafts

So.....I really want to be a crafty kind of gal, and I try, I really do. I am a HUGE fan of Pinterest. They have some amazing ideas and project and how-to tutorials. Follw me on Pinterest as I try and and become a crafty woman!  I have done one of the crafts so far. It was a menu board that I got from Thecreativemama.com. it came out pretty good and was pretty darn easy if I do say.

I  bought a cheap 11x14 frame at Michael's. Then I went to Joann Fabrics and bought a yard of fabric that I liked. I glued the fabric to the glass from the frame and let it dry. I used fabric glue so that the glue didn't seep through the fabric and make marks. Also at Michael's I bought 1.5" wooden letters and 4 sheets of scrapbook paper, some laminating sheets and some plain paper (the thick kind). Now if you go online or get the Sunday circulars you can get coupons for either 40% or 50% off to the craft stores such as Michael's, Joann Fabrics, or ACMoore. I took my plain paper and cut 1.5"x3" pieces. On each one, I wrote down a different dinner and then I laminated each one, using an exacto knife to cut the laminate. I used the scrapbook paper and reglular Elmers glue to cover the wooden letters. Also using the scrapbook paper, I covered 6 clothes pins. (I know there is 7 days in the week but I don't cook on Sunsay!) Using superglue, I glued the clothes pins to the edge of the frame and the letters to the fabric. For the pocket, I bought a small pack of chalk and cut out the size I wanted. I covered it in white paper first because you could see through my fabric. Then I used the fabric glue and glued my fabric on. I used the super glue to glue the pocket onto the fabric. You can add whatever accents you want, I added the flowers, but you can obviously make your board to siut your taste! So now when you go to the supermarket to do your shopping for the week, you know what's on the menu every night and you can get all your ingredients and hopefully not have to go back to the store!!
